Feltz has fourteen years teaching experience, including seven years experience teaching Kindergarten, one year first grade, and three years Spanish 8 for Baltimore Catholic schools. She has two years Reading Intervention Grades K-3, one year Grades 2-3 English Language Arts for the Baltimore City Public School System.
She holds a AA degree in Oceanography, a BS degree in Biology and a State of Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education. She is attending Towson University, pursuing a Master's degree.
Her Teaching Philosophy:
* Teach in a positive manner and respect the children as individuals. * Be mindful of the parents’ role as they become involved in their children’s learning. * Be active, energetic, and enthusiastic, and know it leads to success. * Create a positive environment conducive to learning. * Actively teach a well developed lesson that inspires children to want to learn. * Help students by modeling and allowing them to try on their own to gain understanding. * Implement positive feedback and utilize constructive suggestions to improve learning. * Build bridges instead of walls. * Keep all lines of communication open with students, parents, and colleagues. * Share ideas and be open for suggestions.

Yutaka Houlette, Art Teacher

Yutaka Houlette has experience working in a variety of art and teaching related jobs in both Japan and America. After studying art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, he moved back to Japan for 18 months to work as a translator and gallery assistant at Yamamoto Gendai, a contemporary art gallery. During this time he also taught English to students ranging from toddlers to college students.
Upon returning to Baltimore, Yutaka worked as a freelance editor for the advocacy based non-profit arts organization, Art On Purpose. He now teaches art at the Baltimore International Academy to more than 300 K-7 students.
Maria E. Naranjo, Spanish Teacher

Ms. Naranjo is a native of Colombia in South America who has been a teacher for 13 years. In her college studies, her major was Spanish with a minor in English and French. In Colombia she taught English as a Foreign Language for seven years in three different Catholic schools. When she first came to the United States she worked as Director of a Child Care Center in Baltimore County until she came to BIA.
During her first year at BIA she worked as Paraprofesional with the Spanish Kindergarten class, the following year she applied for the 2nd Grade teaching position, where she is currently. “I enjoy my carrer as a teacher because I have the opportunity to be part of my students academic and personal lives',” she said.

Ms. Henriette Sindjui is a native of Cameroon. She has been teaching at Baltimore International Academy since August 2008 and is a Social Studies certified teacher. She teaches Second Grade French Immersion. In addition, Ms Sindjui is Second Grade Team leader and the school’s Social Studies coordinator.
Ms Sindjui brings to her elementary teaching career, 19 years of professional experience teaching Social Studies in Secondary schools in Cameroon. Ms Sindjui holds a Bachelor of Geography Education from University of Yaoundé- Cameroon, a Master of Arts of teaching Social Studies from Advanced Teacher Training College Yaoundé-Cameroon.
As a teacher, with a life-long love of learning, Ms. Sindjui believes that teachers learn by teaching and that her greatest rewards are those moments when the roles are reversed and it is the student who opens new doors of discovery for the educator. She agrees with many that the most significant professional development for a teacher can happen right inside the classroom. Ms. Sindjui believes that teaching at Baltimore international will always be a pleasure because the International Baccalaureate program gives every child the wish to learn.
Keting Xiao, Second Grade Chinese

Ms. Xiao was born and raised in the Hunan province of China where she lived until the summer of 2008. After graduating from the top high School in Shimen, China, she entered the English Education program at Central South University. During my third and fourth year of college, she taught English as a second language in Sunshine Children’s English school in Changsha. In 2002, she graduated cum laude.
After teaching English as a second language in college for four years, Ms. Xiao was admitted to the graduate school of Hunan university. she majored in Foreign Language Literature and Applied Linguistics. At the same time, she took piano lessons from professor Xie of Hunan Conservatory, which allows her to teach Chinese through music. In 2008, she earned her Master’s degree and came to Baltimore. With great interest in teaching Mandarin and spreading Chinese culture, she came to Baltimore International Academy, which is committed to developing students with global competency.
