Madam Archer began studying French at Henrico High School in Richmond, Va. Inspired by her French teacher, Madame Smith, and her desire to learn the language, she continued my study of French at Virginia Commonwealth University with study abroad in Nantes, France. While living in France, she visited Portugal, travelled through Spain, and shared memorable meals with new found friends in Venice, Italy. Upon graduating with a B.A. in French and minor in African-American Studies, she joined the Peace Corps in 1998. Madam Florence Fomuso, French Teacher, Class Chair Madam Florence Fomuso has taught for more than a dozen years and holds a B.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and French as a Foreign Language from the Universite de France Comte of Besancon, France. She also holds a Master's degree in Elementary School Administration & Supervision from the University of the District of Columbia in Washinton D.C. He began pursuing a Master’s degree in Education at Strayer University in September 2008, and he plans to graduate in December 2010. He graduated in 2004 from Louvain-La-Neuve Catholic University in Belgium with a major in International Development. He also graduated from the National University of Benin with a Bachelor Degree in Linguistics and Communication. He is married with two daughters, Yanne,7, and Elodie 9 years old. His wife Claire Joelle Amousou Gbokede is also a teacher. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and is also a certified teacher in Social Study. Mr. Gbokede chose to be a French Teacher at Baltimore International Academy because of the philosophy of the school, and its mission to provide an International Education for Global Leadership. BIA's decision to be an International Bacallaureate candidate school also appealed to him. “I am proud to work with our children through this tremendous program that will make a differerence in their life,” he said. Monsieur Yutaka HouletteYutaka Houlette has experience working in a variety of art and teaching related jobs in both Japan and America. After studying art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, he moved back to Japan for 18 months to work as a translator and gallery assistant at Yamamoto Gendai, a contemporary art gallery. During this time he also taught English to students ranging from toddlers to college students. Upon returning to Baltimore, Yutaka worked as a freelance editor for the advocacy based non-profit arts organization, Art On Purpose. He now teaches art at the Baltimore International Academy to more than 300 K-7 students. |
